# Create Subcategory

Subcategories help users quickly find more specific product categories, significantly reducing search time. Example: Under the "Electronics" category, adding subcategories such as "Smartphones," "Tablets," and "Laptops" allows users to directly locate their target products. Subcategory pages focus on specific product types, minimizing distractions from unrelated content and encouraging purchasing decisions.

On the product category page, locate the product collection section. In the subcategory "Collection Title," select the category to display.

Typically, after creating subcategories, they will be displayed by default on all related product category pages. If you need to display different subcategory content on other product category pages, you must create a dedicated "Product Collection A+ Page" for targeted category displays.

After creating and editing the page, navigate to the corresponding product collection and select the desired product template for that collection. It is important to note that any changes made within this template will only affect the selected collection template and will not impact the default product collection template or other templates.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://en-ascent.webvista.studio/pages/product-collection-page/create-subcategory.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
